Tapestries in the ancient Andean world were highly regarded in social, economic and political relationships. Archaeological evidence shows that in the Andes, fibers were worked much earlier than other materials, such as ceramics (fired clay).

Textile techniques in Peru developed in the pre-ceramic period (3,000 - 1800 BC). All forms of textile techniques were known from the earliest Peruvian cultures, such as the Chavin period. Excavations provide testimony to the excellent nature and quality of these textiles, which were uniquely preserved thanks to site soil weather conditions

As expert, Junius Bird, demonstrated, textile art is one of the main aspects of pre- hispanic Peruvian art, not only historically but also culturally and spiritually. It is at the root and heart of Andean social development and undoubtedly constitutes one of the most important and original contributions of this region to the cultural wealth
humanity.

OR ‘ s objective is to offer our tapestries, where iconographic designs of the different Andean cultures have been faithfully reproduced, to those around the world interested in Peru’s extraordinary historical and artistic background.. Our goal is to find a place in the modern world for pre-hispanic tapestries, transcending their past and ensuring their future.
